Legendary actor Bruce Willis is diagnosed with a serious illness
Well-known American actor Bruce Willis, 67, is retiring from acting after being diagnosed with a serious mental illness.
"For Bruce's great supporters, as a family we wanted to share that our beloved Bruce has experienced some health problems and was recently diagnosed with aphasia, which is affecting his cognitive abilities," his family announced.
Aphasia is a disease that occurs after a stroke, ischemia in the brain or trauma to the head, and extinguishes the human ability to communicate. Specialists say that aphasia impairs the subject's ability to speak, write, and understand language, both verbally and in writing.
"We are going through this together as a family and we wanted the fans to know, so important to him," the statement said.
The post was signed by Willis's current wife, Emma Heming Willis, as well as ex-wife Demi Moore, and the children she has with him.
